| REI Consultants has three professional aquatic biologists who have attended the Applied Fluvial Geomorphology class taught by David Rosgen, principal hydrologist, and owner of Wildland Hydrology.
The Applied Stream Classification System is used to classify a stream according to its dimensions, pattern, and profile. Measurements of a stream's geomorphology, sediment characteristics, and its relation to a reference reach of undisturbed stream of the same classification can be used to determine the best method for stream restoration. Due to intensive human impacts, few streams remain in their undisturbed state. Many altered streams can greatly benefit from additions of fish structures, habitat enhancement features, and water diversion features. Fish structures and riparian enhancement increases available habitat, and decreases the water temperature and bank erosion. Water diversion structures can be used to protect streambanks and to restore stream channels to their more natural states. |
